Temporary Maps available for Garmin?

I have a Garmin Vista Cx, and own the map for the United States. In about two months I'll be taking a business trip to London England and would love to be able to have a map for the trip. I can geocache without a map, lots of people do, but for walking around town and not getting lost I'd really like a map.

 

Are there any options other than buying the European MapSource map? I don't want to spend $100+ for a map that will only be used for a week.

I've wished for a similar product where you can pay, say, $20 to get a map that would cease to work 30 days after it has been activated. Hmm...renting a mapping GPS might be an alternative although I don't know if anyone does that, yet.

I have also wished for the same thing. I just got back from Mexico yesterday. Was really wanting to have maps for this trip, but didn't want to spend so much $$ for a 1 week deal.

You could try getting hold of a copy "Roads & Recreation UK" or "Metro Guide UK".

 

These have reasonable road maps of the UK and do not need an unlock code.

 

They don't 'Autoroute' though if I recall correctly.

 

There is a way to copy the maps to your hard drive but I can't remember how it's done now!

Consider this: If you haven't ever been there, do you think the price of the maps would be a good value if it significantly increased your enjoyment on the trip and helped you to maximize the time you have there?

We have some really great maps in the UK please see http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/ that can be used with any GPS and be a lot cheaper than the software and give you a permant momento of your visit to London.
