Gps Advice (which One Is For Me?)

Recommended Posts

I know absolutley nothing about GPS's except how to use them. I want one that is pretty accurate, yet one that is not very expensive. I am currently using a Garmin eTrex. It really only gets me within 20 feet of a cache, and I don't mind that, but it doesn't belong to me. I would like one for myself, but maybe a tad bit better at locating a cache. Can anyone here lend me some advice?

That is as close as any GPSr is going to get you to the cache. You don't say which model eTrex you are using. The Legend is a good choice and it comes with the computer cable. The Vista is the next step up with a compass and altimeter.

The Legend C and Vista C have recently been discontinued and can be purchased on eBay. I have seen the Legend C for less than $200.00.

Those models are capable of autorouting you with the City Select or City Navigator software installed.

As Miragee said, you aren't going to find a consumer grade unit that will get you consistently closer than 20 feet. I also agree with him about the Vista C and Legend C. If you can find one cheap, go for it. You already are somewhat familiar with the eTrex, so it makes sense to stick with it.
