Mapsource Topo Data Import Question...

Is there any way to easily import raw text from a spreadsheet (Excel, etc.) into Mapsource? I have 2 columns of UTM data, like 500 waypoints, but is there any way just to "cut-and-paste" them into Mapsource?

I'm not sure if there's an easy way but if you want you could email me the file and I'll convert the UTM to lat/lon in excel then use a php script to create a gpx file for you.

 

Just email it to gps @ oztheory.com (remove the spaces around the @)

There is a program that will do this called GPXtoPOI. It was created to load custom POIs into Mapsource or from Mapsource into a cvs file. By saving an excel file into a cvs file and using GPXtoPOI, it will load all of the waypoints into Mapsource; however, it won't load the symbols. Available at:

That program won't convert UTM to lat/lon will it though. I thought mapsource needs the lat/lon?

GPSBabel might do the trick. I haven't used it personally, but it seems to have a lot of flexibility in converting between various formats.
