+WTT-B2 Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Maybe someone can help out here. When driving down the road watching the GOTO feature to a geocache and arriving at the closest parking area the screen/GPS updates fine. BUT sometimes at that point when I get out of my vehicle and start to navigate to ground zero the screen doesn't update and show my present track. I think the gps is recieving cuz I will get the "arriving at destination" when I think I get close. I've flipped thru all my screen until I get back to my map screen thinking it will reset it but it doesn't. The only fix I've found is turning off the unit and then turning back on. When it acquires all the sats and goes to the map screen it then starts tracking again. Anyone ever experience this problem? WTT-B2 Quote
+Lasagna Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Are you sure you're still in "goto" mode? Sometimes if it thinks you've arrived at your destination, it will exit "goto" mode. You need to do the "find" again. Also, are you navigating using "follow road" mode? If so, when you get to the parking, you need to "recalculate" and put the GPSr into "off road" mode. Otherwise it keeps trying to get you to the road nearest the cache instead of point at the cache itself. Quote

This brings up the details of the cache and at the bottom I hit enter on the "GOTO" button. I then proceed to the map overview page and it gives me a "as the crow flies" straight purple line to the waypoint. I then proceed to the closest parking area on my own not using autoroute or anything like that. Not always but quite often it seems when I get out of the truck and head toward the cache the GPSr doesn't update anymore according to the screen. I really think it's in the unit itself cuz if I get close to the g.z. I get the alert "arriving at destination" even though the screen shot stills shows me back at my vehicle. I've also had this happen while away from the vehicle and all of a sudden it acts like it's not updating anymore until I turn it off and back on WTT-B2 Edited May 28, 2006 by WTT-B2 Quote
+Miragee Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Which maps, if any, do you have loaded on your GPSr? When you hit "GoTo," does it prompt you for "Follow Road" or "Off Road." If not, it might be set to not prompt you and it is using the "Follow Road" option. Also, once I get close to the cache, I change to the Navigation arrow from the map page. Quote

The "Lock On Road" feature in the main menu was set to "ON". I set it to "Off" and we'll see what happens. Thanks gang for the enlightment WTT-B2 Quote
