+Digital Louie
This may be just another dumb question presented by a newbie with a limited knowledge of satelite stuff, but on my 60CSx I can turn on WAAS capabilities. If my intention, whether correct or not, is to attempt at getting better or greater accuracy, do I need to do anything further besides turning on the WAAS capability? Also, it seems to turn off with the unit powering down as when I turn back on the unit, the capability is defaulted to off. Can this be changed? Any assistance for this satelite illiterate mind would be helpful. I'm satisfied with the reception and accuracy I get, but if it could be better, why not? Thanks Digital Louie Quote Link to comment
+team fuzzybunny
I have the 60 csx and once the unit is waas enabled in the setup page it should stay that way. I enabled waas one time and it has always been "on" ever since. Quote Link to comment
+Digital Louie
Thanks for the response. Upon further looking, and I should not try to learn GPSr stuff at 2:00 am , I found that the WAAS does indeed stay on after I shut the unit off. I think I'll leave it on permanently as it doesn't seem to hurt a thing. I don't however, see much difference yet. RabidJack
the difference apparently is in the accuracy of your GPS tracking. Waas is a system of newer GPS satellites that are used as a cross reference to the original GPS satellites. Quote Link to comment
blang
From what I understand, you must not only turn on WAAS mode, but also lock onto a WAAS satellite (35 in my neck of the woods). http://www.garmin.com/support/faqs/faq.jsp?faq=9 Edited February 25, 2006 by blang Quote Link to comment
