  1. Worked great for me but I would like to do the same with City Nav. Anyone know the registry details on that or would it even work?
  2. I've tried to duplicate the problem on my 60CSx both with 2.5 and 2.6 but have not been able to duplicate the symptoms. Maybe it was just a problem with the Vista.
  3. I'm afraid that about a month ago I had the same problem with a brand new Cx. The Garmin tech staff said they had not heard of it and that I was the first to express this problem. I didn't get a discount on my next Garmin but did spend a total of about 5 hours on the phone with them sorting through the things that I had done to screw the thing up. Kim, Garmin tech, finally had a multiway coinversation with tech staff and I and they figured that it was the manner in which the tracking system was truned off. I/m glad they figured it out, but I had lost a little faith in the Vista by that point and upgraded to the 60CSx...or at least that's what I told my wife was the reason for the upgrade. I think they'll figure a fix soon and the unit worked fine after the initial resolve. Maybe my money would have been better spent on something other than the 60? Too late, I'm hooked.
  4. I own a Garmin 60CSx and love it! also a Forerunner 201 and love it although it doesn't make my running ability any better or my pace any faster. Used to own a Vista Cx and a Sportrak Pro
  5. I've got a 60CSx and a 512 card jammed full of City Nav 7.0 and Topo both showing all the time (I didn't know about the priroities). I have not seen a slowdown in the maps at all. It's either not ther, or I'm oblivious to it's speed. Either way it works great and I recommend the larger card. I have everything from Colorado westward in Navigator and Utah and Idaho in Topo.
  6. You guys were right on the money. I got rid of the existing waypoints and reloaded having changed actually to %drop2 to have a better on screen view. I wouldn't have found the code section without your hints. Thanks again! Shawn
  7. GOD bless the PEPSI man...yeah a six pack of DP will do. Not to be the bummer man, but during most days I investigate sex crimes and crimes against children for a medium sized police agency. Most nights I become the owner and sole photographer for an event/wedding/portrait photography business. Looking forward to retire and get rid of the "most days" job and continue with the "most nights" job. Long live retirement!
  8. Unless I'm not doing something right, isn't the name automatically loaded? If not, where in GSAK or Mapsource can I change what loads?
  9. I have a Garmin 60 CSx and have multiple caches downloaded to it. When I look either for waypoints or caches on my 60, the "name" for the cache is shown, but not the GCXXXX number. I thought, when I first started this, that I had the GC number on board. Is there a way to toggle back to that series of numbers or reload the caches under the GC inidcators? I think I could find them easier as I could read the entire name on one page. Sometimes the names of the caches are close enough that I have to click on the icon, opening the caches page, just to realize it's not the cache I was looking for. Any help or comments would be appreciated. Shawn
  10. You'll love the 60CSx. Fast, accurate, bragging rights, etc. It's great and rugged.
  11. Shawn does the unit slow down a lot with that much information on the memory? I have not noticed any slowdown. That's not to say that someone from this thread who wields a Phd in astrophysics hasn't measured a nanosecond of difference, but to me it hasn't slowed a bit.
  12. I don't own a Vista but have a 60CSx. I replaced the 64 card with a 512 card. I'll sell it for 10.00 (plus actual shipping) if you want to PM me. The 512 I bought online and have had no problems. I have street navigator and topo on it. Navigator covers all western us fro=m Colorado to the coast while topo has Utah and Idaho. That only used about 350mg. Well worth having a larger card. Shawn Lewis
  13. It's geocaching...not calling in air strikes. The unit you hold in your hand is the best one. Whoops that sounds bad. Whatever you can use conveniently is the best one. That's better.
  14. Thanks for the response. Upon further looking, and I should not try to learn GPSr stuff at 2:00 am , I found that the WAAS does indeed stay on after I shut the unit off. I think I'll leave it on permanently as it doesn't seem to hurt a thing. I don't however, see much difference yet. Shawn
  15. This may be just another dumb question presented by a newbie with a limited knowledge of satelite stuff, but on my 60CSx I can turn on WAAS capabilities. If my intention, whether correct or not, is to attempt at getting better or greater accuracy, do I need to do anything further besides turning on the WAAS capability? Also, it seems to turn off with the unit powering down as when I turn back on the unit, the capability is defaulted to off. Can this be changed? Any assistance for this satelite illiterate mind would be helpful. I'm satisfied with the reception and accuracy I get, but if it could be better, why not? Thanks Digital Louie
  16. You may be right on the checked day issue. I read another thread/tutorial that said not to check the day box "yet". I just went back into geocaching.com and checked Fri to see if I could get a response. Everything else does seem to be working fine and I think I'll register GSAK as it seems to be the most popular and effective means of doing the job. Thanks for your response.
  17. I've read the threads and still have massive confusion. I've registered cachemate and am trying GSAK. I'm willing to buy whatever programs are necessary. I did a querry through geocache.com but have not received an email in several hours. Is this normal? I want to use the .gpx format to give the most data. I have a 60CSx and a Tungsten E palm. Cachemate is on my palm and works as I've tried it with single waypoint downloads successfully. I think the problem is that GSAK doesn't automatically download into .gpx format? Do I just need to learn patience waiting for the email from GSAK? This process just seems a little tiresome (although probably not as bad as entering 100-500 waypoints by hand). Any help or a slap upside the head would be appreciated. Thanks Shawn
  18. Can't help it. I'm too excited. I had to do it. After owning a Vista Cx for two whole days and experiencing my first found cache, I traded up to the 60CSx and love it too. My 10 year old daughter is so excited about geocaching and that makes me want to do it even more. Thanks for letting me join in on the fun and share from all of your experiences. Hope to see you at a find! Shawn
