+TookEverythingLeftNothing
Has anyone with an Explorist 500 had any problems send caches to their units? We haven't been able to send one yet and have had it since Christmas. It's showing that the exploris Manager isn't able to detect any eXplorist. What gives? Is this a common problem? Maybe a problem with the cable. Any advice would be appreciated. Sharon Quote Link to comment
Dr_Dajom
You probably put the cable upside down. It should be running down the back of the unit. Quote Link to comment
+Zzyzx Road
Like Dr said, the cable connection is screwy. It looks like it should run off the top of the unit, yet it should run down the back so the thing sits on your table all sideways. Also, (I have a 600) the thing should be off when you attach the USB, and mine will come up in "use" format (running, like I am taking out to cache a while) when I turn it on. Sometimes that has affected whether or not stuff will load to it. You may have to tell it to FILE TRANSFER ONLY for the USB hookup, rather than EXTERNAL POWER ONLY. That is (the long way) under MENU, ADVANCED SETTINGS, COMMUNICATION. Also, when you are uploading to the unit, make sure you specify the folder where the info needs to go. I use a folder on my SD card that reflects the area I am going to caching in. The next step (dang! TOO many of those steps!) is to make that folder/file the ACTIVE geocache file in your preferences. MENU, PREFERENCES,ACTIVE MAP SETUP and scroll down to geocache file, browse 'till you find the one you want and make it active. THEN you should be good to go. Quote Link to comment
+JohnnyVegas
(dang! TOO many of those steps!) But it sounds like more work than it is when you read about the steps. Once you get up to speed with your fingers it's a snap, get it, fingers snap- I kill me HA! Thumb fighting is good exersize for getting itno shape geocaching. Quote Link to comment
