+2oldkids
Years ago I went online and downloaded a "translator" to allow me to view 1:24000 USGS topo quadrangles in digital raster graphics (DRG's) I could move my cursor to an interesting spot (shore of a mountain lake) click the cursor and record the waypoint. Or I could type in a waypoint and it would show up on the map. The maps would meld together seamlessly, and it was all great fun for planning or seeing where you had been. The system was being upgraded constantly. I think I could even download waypoints to my Eagle expedition. Oh...and it was all free! So, now that I'm a newbie geocacher...Anything like that today? +Timpat
So, now that I'm a newbie geocacher...Anything like that today? Sure is. Try USAPhotoMaps. I use it all the time for just what you describe. It's an awesome program and is free, although Doug asks for a donation which I gladly paid! Quote Link to comment
+Greymane
The USGS Seamless Site is a great source for maps. I use them with Memory-Map, but you can use them as paper maps, as well. USAPhotoMaps is also a great source. Quote Link to comment
