+Texas Dreamweaver
I read somewhere that there is an offset forumula to modify your coordinates between a cache placed by a Magellan user and hunted by a Garmin user and vice-versa. I am sure that this topic is in the forum somewhere, but since the SEARCH function isn't working.....Can someone please explain the formula and reason for it? Thanks Quote Link to comment
+GOT GPS?
Not an easy thing to do Too many variables between each simular GPS, and between each Brand, Time of Day, Trees and so on. The newer Magellans and Garmins should be best, and you can average the coordinates between a Magellan and a Garmin. Quote Link to comment
Alphawolf
To any consumer model receiver, made by either Garmin or Magellan, on any particular day, at any particular time of day, in the hands of any particular user, there IS no difference between them, that you can offset, control and replicate. +JDandDD
Well said Alphawolf. We've been out caching with three different GPSrs from 3 manufacturers and they will sometimes show exactly the same coords, sometimes different coords but within limits and occasionally 1 will be way off from the others. Never any consistency that I can see except that it depends on all the factors others have talked about including which satellites each can see. JDandDD Quote Link to comment
