Pocket Query Pictures?

sure..go to the cache pages and save the pictures to your computer, then upload them to your handheld via whatever method you use to connect.

including all the graphics in a GC listing in a PQ, even as an option, is going to greatly increase the server load for GC.com. Think about it..your queries are a certain size, but are limitedd to how many you can run during a given time period. Adding in the extra size of images would exacerbate the problem tremendously. What if you search for 200 caches in a single query? Are you going to ask for the linked photos from all of them? talk about size!!!

But then again..if you were abel to specify that type of download for each individual cache in your list it might work. But then again, that's a lot like the amount of work it takes to go to the listing and save all the info yourselff.

It would take forever to check all those pages, but if there's no other way...

Couldn't it be programed into the system to not include the picture, but include the direct link to the file, so when you convert the .gpx file, the program downloads them and sets it up to put on the palm for the next hotsync. But that would require it be integrated with cachemate, gpxsonar, etc... darn ;)

Output the PQ as html, then process for your handheld with plucker, isilo, sunrise, whatever. Tell it to follow links as desired and you'll end up with the pics on your palm.

A bit of work upfront, but it's automagic after that.

My current setup is PQ --> gpxspinner --> sunrise --> treo 600 smartphone thingy

Violates the site's TOU

You know this for a fact? Or do you assume they don't have permission?

I know it for a fact. An application can't get permission to automatically access content on the site; that permission would have to be given to each user individually.

Read the TOU. I don't particularly like those terms, but we don't really have a choice if we want to access the content on this site, do we?

We recently had a discussion about this in the Geocaching.com Website forum. The conclusion is that, for now, the only way to legally put images into your pocket queries is to manually download the images you need to a local folder, which you can then spider to your heart's content. Painful, I know. But until TPTB decide to change the TOU to let us get the images this via Web services or something, we're pretty much stuck.
