Sifting Through Lacationless Caches

I'm sure this has been asked before, but how can you find out if a particular location has been logged without having to look through, what could be, thousands of logs?

There is no good way to do it.

 

This is one of the reasons why locationless caches are being archived at the end of this year in favor of Waymarking.

There are tools to do that...but you can't search for them in the forums due to the forum problems that the search and view new post functions were causing.

 

If someone has a bookmark handy you may get lucky.

This worked for me: At the bottom of the logs, click 'view them all on one page' which will take a little time to load. Then click Edit > find (on this page)... and then fill in the name of the town where the virtual you found is. All of the logs should have the name of the town they are located in, so if your town is in one of them, the search should find it. Then you can just check to see if it's the same thing you've found.... if your town doesn't come up at all, you should be good to go!

When locationless caches go over to Waymarking next month, will all the logs and finds, for those caches, be deleted from all users profiles?

No, the finds and logs will remain as part of your account history.

You're welcome, glad I could help. I'm new here too and have found so much help in these forums, I'm glad I could return the favor! I'm disappointed too that the locationless cache is being moved, since I've only just started geocaching and the winter snow is hindering me finding any regular ones. I will be checking out wayfinding.com to see what I can do there too.
