Covered Bridges?

Recommended Posts

I created about 13 caches covering over 60 covered bridges in 4 states (VT, PA, NY, CT). Most are multiple type, one is a single and some are multi-virtuals. I've listed the coordinates for each of the bridges as you have to go to them to get clues to determine the coordinates of where the container is located. (except for the virtuals-those you have to answer questions like any other virtual). Here's the bookmark.

There are hundreds of covered bridges in the US mainly on the east coast. I've gotten great reception from cachers doing these. So with so many more to do, why not do some regular caches for those in your neighborhood? Great way to see the beauty of the CB's, the off-the-beaten-path countryside as well as combining with caching.

Absolutely! These are almost always scenic, historic fascinating sites and there are only a few U.S. states that do NOT have covered bridges. They are highly treasured here in New England. I lived just a few miles from the country's longest covered bridge (the Cornish-Windsore bridge crossing the Connecticut River) and used it often. But, Indiana, for instance, has even more! Most Canadian Provinces also have covered bridges.

Here is one site that has one of the most comprehensive directories:

I'm not sure why this doesn't seem to be an approved category, or sub-category under "Bridges," but it certainly should be. Good for Waymarking and also for traditional geocaching, of course.

If it needs a manager, I'd be glad to assume it. Certainly would look forward to contributing to it, for sure!
