dogwalker
I know this has been beaten to death, but I haven't seen one answer precisely my question. I'm giving a GPS to a kid as a present for his birthday. He specifically wants to go geocaching with it. He has seen mine (a Garmin eTrex that is probably 4 years old and works just fine thank you very much - unless it breaks it stays) and he has seen a fancier one being used by a fellow who was out hiking. Ok so I've researched it to death and here we are, up for a vote - 11 year old kid (with parental supervision of course) - Garmin GPS 60 or GPSMap 60? Quote Link to comment
+scott9282
Go with the Map60. That will give enough geek factor to keep the kid happy, and it will also give you an option for further gifts (other mapping software). Now, can I tell you which Garmin I want for Christmas? I been good. Sort of. Well, in front of witnesses anyway. Quote Link to comment
ImpalaBob
Frankly ..... I'd give him my old E-trex with a promise to upgrade it after his 100th find ...... this shows his seriousness...... and get a new GPS for myself. His parents will have to cart him around ..... so you are putting some burden on them as well. Now if it were your own child, or within your extended family, I'd see it differently! That's my opinion .... others may vary. ImpalaBob Quote Link to comment
