phoenixup14
Some people look for reasons to be offended. ...and some look for reasons to be offensive! Quote Link to comment
phoenixup14
It's like politics and business: religion does not belong in geocaches. Caching is an innocent hobby; let's keep ALL biases and personal agendas out. Quote Link to comment
CoyoteRed
Wow, this is getting awful heated and off topic. Some folks just don't get the difference between a personally-valued item and a solicitation. I don't find little crosses in caches offensive. These are personal mementos. It's something these folks feel good about and says something about them. I do find fliers to visit such-n-such church offensive. That is a crass solicitation for one church, one denomination, one belief. It actually amazes me that folks do that. What, I can't find a church that I like? Trying to get more parishioners to fill the coffers? Never made sense no matter where I find it. Please, recognize the item for what it is and deal with it accordingly. I doubt I'd frown upon a McToy, but I certainly would a 20 cent coupon off a McGriddle. It's like the "micro issue." It's not that it's a micro, it the fact it's in a junky cache. Even if micros didn't exist, junky caches would and there would still be complaints. (Most likely "We should ban *ware caches!") So, just because it is a religious item doesn't mean it is junk nor just because it looks like a business card doesn't mean it's a solicitation. Quote Link to comment
Azaruk
Not a business card as such, although it has a company name and contact details on it - I leave a few discount vouchers from a company that specialises in GPS equipment, two-way radios and so on. Believe me, when they run out, I get passionate emails about the problem, requesting immediate cache maintenance from myself, and the request for more of these cards. So I don't think there's anything wrong with it, and neither do the players who have found them. They pertain to the game, help players buy more goodies to make them more effective in the bush and save money. Always a good thing. And no - I get no kickback from the discount cards, they ARE tagged with my nickname so the players know where they came from. Quote Link to comment
+radioscout
In this part of Europe almost no one places business cards in caches. Quote Link to comment
+SandyEggoGuy
I have a personal card and have left it. It all depends on the cache. Usually on the back I put my Geo Name and date. Leaving a business card is ok to me, if it's only making the statement "Kilroy was here". Quote Link to comment
