+dino-irl Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 (edited) Things > Benchmarks Similar to UK Trigpoints this would cover traditional Triangulation pillars and OS markers (not GPS stations) as used on the island of Ireland by both OSNI and OSI. The waypoints would require logging verification involving a photo of the marker and a GPS. A full list of primary and secondary Trigs are available online giving Irish Grid coords so a photo is definitely required. Edited November 9, 2005 by dino-irl
+Windsocker Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 Yep what a great idea it would be nice to be able to log these
arbalo Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 trig points all over the world should be logable!!!
+dino-irl Posted November 9, 2005 Author Posted November 9, 2005 Agreed but the benchmark category appears to be diverging into country specific types. I assume that they're not the same everywhere but I could, and probably will be proved, wrong.
Aushiker Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 Hi I suspect that the British colonies may have similiar if not the same type of Trig points. For example Australia and New Zealand have trig points which the same or pretty much the same. I suspect these are similiar to the UK trig points. Frequently established for surveying or aerial navigation purposes. Does that sound right? I don't know what benchmarks are so can't comment on those. Regards Andrew
+dino-irl Posted November 10, 2005 Author Posted November 10, 2005 They could well have but I've only seen the Irish ones
