+herbk
I am considering buying the GPSMAP 60. That is the model which doesn't have color, just four-level gray scale. I would be interested in gathering opinions from any cachers who have been using this unit. Which of the various car-mount hardware options do you recommend? Quote Link to comment
+Rubberhead
I know I'm not answering the question that was asked, but... The additional features of the GPSmap 60C(S) are worth the price premium. 500 more waypoints 32 MB more memory Better battery life and lets not forget the beautiful color screen. However, I believe that the GPSmap 60 has a better basemap than the C(S). Edited July 22, 2005 by Rubberhead Quote Link to comment
CenTexDodger
I have a 60cs, and i can answer your question about car mounts. Get RAM mounts. As I have stated in other threads, I have been through several Radio Shack type cheap mounts. The trouble is the unit will tend to bounce or vibrate when going down the road and it makes the display hard to read. The RAM mount is rock steady. Quote Link to comment
ImpalaBob
We have 2 60Cs and use the Garmin Auto Kit (unit clip, bean bag mount, 12 volt power cable) which we purchased bundled with City Select N/A from Provantage.com Works great so far. ImpalaBob Quote Link to comment

CenTexDodger
You can also look at gpscity. They have a full line of RAM mount stuff and are reasonably priced. Quote Link to comment
outrigger3
Herbk I have that unit and we like it just don't have all the bells and toys the 60cs is great but being on a budget the maping 60 will work for caching and other stuff if your climbing mountains hiking or stuff like that you may want to spend the money I m color blind so it's all gray to me.... +Redwoods Mtn Biker
I have the 60CS, which should use the same mount system. I have the Garmin suction mount, which works great and is very flexible. I got this one because it seemed like it would work better on low angle windshields like my Camry. I use RAM mounts on my bikes, but see no reason to use one for this purpose.
