+WebbyZ
I found a benchmark disk while Geocaching in an open field in Franklin County Ohio. I snapped a picture of it but I cannot find out where to log it. I do not see it on gc.com or in the gov pages. Can anyone help me out? Quote Link to comment
+Kewaneh & Shark
Sorry, but you didn't find a Benchmark and it cannot be logged on the Geocaching.com site. What you found was a Public Land Survey System (PLSS) corner, most particularly, the South Quarter Corner of Section 1 (common with the North Quarter Corner of Section 12), Township 12 North, Range 21 West, set by the Franklin County Engineer. The PLSS is a rectangular system of land division used by most of the United States. The markers used, called 'corners', are used only for horizontal location. Incedentally, the first use of the PLSS was in Ohio in 1785. Hope this helps. - Kewaneh Quote Link to comment
