Log Notifications

I'd suggest that an option be made so when somebody adds a log to a cache that's on there watchlist or that they own, no notification emails are sent to them.

then why are you watching it?

 

You could put it in a bookmark list and be able to acess it just as easilybut not be notified when somone logs it.

The point that QuigleyJones was making is that if YOU Log to a Cache Page that YOU are "Watching" you don't need email notification.

 

Also if YOU Log to a Cache that YOU Own, the same logic applies.

 

The standard notifications Logged by OTHER Cachers would still be sent.

 

While this observation is correct (and I recall reading this suggestion previously), I don't see where it is a very high priority.

 

A quick search turned up this Most recent identical observation that did NOT generate an official response from TPTB.

 

The best chance for implimentation of this suggestion could be Jeremy's response to a somewhat related topic. It looks like this suggestion could possibly be rolled into that proposed project.

As Cardinal Red phrased it, that makes sense. I don't really need a notification that I just posted a note on my own cache.

 

On the other hand, deleting that extra email isn't really much of an annoyance.

I have a bookmark list of all my DNFs. When I finally find one of these caches, the fact that I get email that "tozainamboku found this cache" reminds me to take that cache off my DNF bookmark list (and move it to another bookmark or my watchlist if I want to keep watching it )

If it's implemented I sure hope it's an option. I have certain caches and travelbugs watchlisted for a reason. I want to get all logs emailed to me, even my own.

Most email clients have rule-settings that can be used to automatically handle these messages.

I do the same thing. On a somewhat related note, I've asked that the bookmark feature be enhanced so that you would be able to move an existing bookmark from one list to another. For example, if that DNF was because the cache was really, really, hard, I would like to be able to transfer the bookmark from my DNF list to my favorite caches list. (See links to both bookmark lists in my signature line below!)
