Just started searching for caches this weekend, went on 4 searches, and found 3.

I noticed things in the logbook like

"thanks and 73" Whats the 73 all about, is this akin to the 10 code cb'ers use? Where can I find a list of other codes?

also, noticed some sort of ID number... ie:

"n90gc" any ideas on this?

This was alot of fun, specially for a VERY first timer. I got a couple more questions, but dont wanna overwhelm anyone right off the bat, I figure these q's are just the right amount of 'whelm'

thanks

yes 73's is an amateur radio code. it means> signing off, good luck , thanks , best wishes .

normaly the correct"code phrase" is >

99's and 73's (i.e.) best wishes or good luck to you and yours. 73's by itself just means good luck . it's always used as the last tranmission to a station. the N9OGC is more then likely this hams call sign ( i.e.)

And if you go to the site mentioned above, and enter the number in the Call Sign search box, it shows it to be registered to:

MORETH, MICHAEL K, N9OGC (Extra)

621 W Grove Ave

BENSENVILLE, IL 60106

Licensee ID: L00144765

Issue Date: Feb 11, 1992

Expire Date: Feb 11, 2002

Since you're both from IL, I'd say this is who signed the book icon_smile.gif
