dadgum... we never get to go to these...

as we are always in St. Maarten during the last 2 weeks of April...

But we will get to visit

The Kissing Cache as we will be staying at that resort for our first week!

We'll be thinking of u all as we sit on the beach and let sand gravity take hold...

except during Happy Hour, which starts at 12:30 every day!

Sooooooooooooooooooo... here's another picture of a rabbit with a pancake on it's head...

There are a few caches on Hilltop Reservation in North Caldwell / Verona NJ, and the Hilltop Preservation Society is sponsoring a cleanup event on April 23rd.

There is currently a battle between a preservation society to stop development:

http://www.hilltopconservancy.org/

It would be a good time to visit and help preserve a great area.

Sorry if this is already posted, I did a few searches for hilltop and Essex, came up blank.

Feel free to host an event at Hilltop. All you have to do is create a CITO cache page telling people where and when.

We had a CITO there May 1st last year:

Last years event went well.

I tried to get this CITO event in Pittsburgh but couldn't get it to fit within the guidelines. So, even though it's not an "official" event, I'm posting it here. Half a dozen geocachers will be there.

Tri-Go's Hazelwood Greenway CITO

N 40° 24.753 W 079° 56.002

Since Tri-Go has been too disorganized to plan a CITO event of our own, we have decided to hijack someone else's event.

Pennsylvania Cleanways of Allegheny County and Venture Outdoors will be cleaning up the Hazelwood Greenway over three weekends in April, Saturdays the 16th, 23rd and 30th.

Volunteers will meet at 8:30 a.m. at Josza's Corner Hungarian Restaurant, 4800 Second Avenue, Hazelwood. (parking at N40 24.666 W79 56.711) The minimum volunteer age is 12. Volunteers should wear long pants, long sleeves, work gloves and sturdy shoes. After coffee and bagels, volunteers will travel a short distance to near Kinglake Street where an estimated 3 tons of trash, 5 tons of scrap metal and an estimated 25 tires have been dumped over the hillside. Lunch will be

provided afterwards.

Volunteers should contact Venture Outdoors to sign up at 412-255-0564 or signup@ventureoutdoors.org so that they know how much food they will need.

The 16th of April will be primarily trash removal. There will be a tow truck on hand to haul the heaver debris up the hill. On April 23rd and April 30th, volunteers will be out again with axes and shovels to clear away invasive plant species (such as the Japanese Knotweed) and replace them with native trees to help restore the environment. There will also probably still be plenty of simple trash to clean up as well. The Saturday the 23rd cleanup is Pennsylvania Cleanway's "Great PA Cleanup Day" and after the cleanup session there will be a picnic in Schenley Park.

I was out at the site the other day and it is indeed quite a mess. Matresses, trashbags, tires, furniture, a pickup bed hood, sheets of glass, a doctor's office scale, all chucked uver the hill between two signs warning that illegal dumping risks a $10,000 fine.
