Problem With Geocaching Maps

During the last few weeks, on at least three occasions I have experienced a strange problem with the Geocaching maps. When I open a map for a particular area, only the caches that I have found or hidden are displayed. When I select 'identify' all of the caches show, including ones that did not appear on the prior map. Today the problem does not seem to be there. Any idea why this periodically is occurring? This occurred two weeks ago when I was caching in Gainesville, Florida, and last Friday in West Palm Beach.
