SweetDuo
I know of web sites like map quest which will map a coordinate, but is there a free site which will do the opposite? Like after you have mapped an address, there would be a button to get that address's coordinates. Any help would be appreciated. -- That is all. Quote Link to comment

GPS_Brian
Here is another link that I like as it also can search on place names and do coordinate conversion. http://neilm.com/whitejeep/convert.mv quote:Originally posted by dsweet0627:I know of web sites like map quest which will map a coordinate, but is there a free site which will do the opposite? +Markwell
Hmmmm... That link didn't recognize my address or the main address in my downtown city. Not very reliable. Markwell Chicago Geocaching Quote Link to comment
GPS_Brian
Yeah, the address lookup seems to not be recognizing any addresses this afternoon. Worked fine a few days ago. Brian Quote Link to comment

woodsters
How does one convert the coordinates as listed here on the website caches to decimal degrees without a converter tool? Brian Wood Woodsters Outdoors http://www.woodsters.com Quote Link to comment
Markwell
Again, part of my FAQ. In short, take the integer off (the whole number) and multiply the remainder by 60. 41.24333 -> N 41° 0.24333x60 = 14.5998 round to 3 decimals: 14.600 N 41° 14.600 Positive numbers are North and East Negative numbers are West and South To reverse, take the minutes and divide by 60. Then add it to the degrees. W 088° 12.457 12.457 ÷ 60 = 0.2076167 88 + 0.2076167 = 88.2076167 "W" is negative -> -88.2076167 Markwell Chicago Geocaching Quote Link to comment

Shoebox
There is a program you can download at: http://www.mentorsoftwareinc.com/freebie/FREE1198.HTM The program is a free download and you can then keep it in your computer. It will convert any format to any other. At the site above, look for the download button lost in the upper dark line. There are also some other free programs listed under the freebie button. GlobeSniffer Writes: I have used this site before to grab coordinates for just about anywhere in the U.S. You cannot type in an address, but you can seach by city, state or zip, and you can mark a spot anywhere on the map and get coordinates, or visa-versa. http://tiger.census.gov/cgi-bin/mapbrowse-tbl -GlobeSniffer -- Quote Link to comment
