+Timpat
thebarks; Perhaps it's as simple as this. Go to FILE/Preferences/GPS. Under GPS scroll down to select your GPS unit and model (ex:Garmin eTrex(Legned, Venture,Vista). Try this first. Quote Link to comment
+NightPilot
It's not talking to the GPS, obviously. 1. Is it configured for the correct GPS? Do you in fact have an eTrex connected? 2. If so, is the interface set to Garmin on the GPS? 3. Are you sure you're using the correct com port? 4. Are you sure nothing else is using the port? 5. Are you sure the cable is securely connected on both ends? Quote Link to comment
+JamesJM
Now I can't say I know what the problem is but that is precisely the message you get if there is a conflict with a PDA...or at least I get. I use Activesync and there is an option to turn off the ability to use Comm Port X, whichever. That clears it up. - JamesJM Quote Link to comment

Before sending anything to the GPS I have to disable HotSync. Edited March 17, 2004 by geckoee Quote Link to comment
+Semper Questio
I have a conflict with my NokiaPC software that lets me manage my cell phone info on my PC so I have a serial port a/b switch connected to my PC and my SporTrak Map and Nokia cables on the switch. To use one of the devices I have to diable the other on the PC and and switch my box to the right device. Another connectivity issue - at least with the SprTrak Map - be sure the GPSr and teh software Comm port speed settings are set to the same thing. Quote Link to comment
