_mo_
I've got a new laptop that doesn't have a serial port on it. Ugh. anyway, I'm having trouble getting Mapsource to talk through the USB-serial adapter (Belkin F5U103) Any thoughts? Quote Link to comment
+Quackin' Up
I no longer have my III but I used an adapter on my laptop and it worked fine. If I remember I will check tonight and see what kind I was using. I still use it on my Etrex Vista as well. Also, it seems to me it came up as as a very high com port, maybe 8? Quote Link to comment
_mo_
I've tried com ports 1 and 2 I've tried setting the speed at 9600 I've gotten this adapter to work with one other item (Yaesu VX5) but have had problems with other devices. I might just pick up another one and give it a shot. We just had our first successful cache hunt and the kids are very excited to do more. Quote Link to comment
+sbell111
I use my 3+ with a Belkin adapter on my laptop. In Mapsource, I have the baud rate set to 115200 (COM 1). On my GPSr's inteface screen (in setup) the format is 'GARMIN' and the transfer mode is 'host'. I did have an initial problem uploading to my unit because I was getting a conflict with my palm settings. I had to deselect 'local serial' for my pda. Quote Link to comment
+Quackin' Up
Ok, as I pointed out I no longer have my III, but my Vista was set up exactly the same. I am using a Keyspan adapter and it uses Com 4 at 115200 (I just used autodetect to find that). Works like a charm. Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
My GPS V is using a similar adapter and it works on com 4 or 5. I can't recall but I was suprised to find it such a high number considering there is only one modem and no serial ports. Quote Link to comment
