lunadragon
I just got my GPS and want to learn about mapping software for Macintosh. I run OS9 and OS10.2. Any suggestions and hints would be welcome. I also have VirtualPC if that helps. Quote Link to comment
+TEAM DARROW
If you have a Garmin you can use TerraBrowser http://www.chimoosoft.com/terrabrowser.html Unfortunately it doesn't yet work with Magellans Since I have a Magellan I bought MacGPS Pro. http://www.macgpspro.com/ which is more difficult to use than TerraBrowser, but does more. But to view any maps you need to find some. Some of which are very expensive. You can also find some free ones. You will have to calibrate the maps which is a simple three step job, but can be confusing in the beginning. Quote Link to comment
+sk8rdi16
I just found a petition at GPScity for garmin to do work on mac software. Check it out at Garmin Petition I have not made a formal topic for this, I will do that now.... Quote Link to comment
Guest
I have used oziexplorer (http://www.oziexplorer.com) with virtual PC on my iBook (dual USB, 500 mhz G3) with sucess (using my PalmConnect USB to serial interface) connected to a Magellan GPS315. They have a free demo with not too much limitation, try it. It took a lot of tweaking to make that setup work correctly but once everything was set, it was fine. To upgrade my desktop I had to sell my iBook but a friend gave me a Presario 1245 (Pentium II, 333 Mhz)... so i'm not using my Mac for Geocaching... sob... Quote Link to comment
