Problems In Monte Sano State Park

I just got this cache notification. There is a thread on alacache.com about this issue. Someone has talked to the park rangers and they don't seem to have a problem with caching, but this was posted after that discussion. ofcbc's profile identified him/her as a state police officer.

this cache is on monte sano state park. it was not authorized and such incidents are to be considered littering. we urge that this cache if found be removed or turned over to monte sano state park's rangers.

I got the same note posted for the MC^2 Cache (Monte Sano Cuts Cache) so I responded to the sender and asked if there was a way to make the geocaches in the park legal. He wrote back and said that they were looking into the geocaching right now. Here's exactly what he wrote:

>as it stands now we are looking into the geo caching situation. such

>activities must be approved by management having not done this as of yet is

>where the majority of the problem lies. once we are convinced about

>geocaching we will let you know

So I wrote back and said that as a financial supporter of the Land Trust and Monte Sano State Park that I would be happy to discuss geocaching with him and possibly even have a meeting with local geocachers. So I guess we'll see where this goes. You can e-mail me to discuss if you want to. As for now, I am not removing our cache and went today to find Panorama Cache. I hope we can reach a compromise. I just think that he doesn't understand geocaching.
