Formal Notice to Nebraskache Members of General Meeting, nominations for offices, election procedures and interim officers:

 

This notice is being sent in accordance with The Nebraskache Geocaching Organization interim Bylaws. The Bylaws will be posted in the files section soon.

 

In accordance with the interim Bylaws, the interim Executive Committee announces a general membership meeting to be held at 12 noon on February 7, 2004 at the meeting room of Saint Michael Lutheran Church (132nd and Blondo Street, Omaha). The Bylaws will be offered for adoption at the meeting and officers and members at large for the Executive Committee elected. The interim Executive Committee forwards the following nominations for officers and members of the Executive Committee:

 

President: Jim Harper (Bigredmed)

President-Elect: Justin Short (The Shorts)

Secretary/Treasurer: Carleen Pruess (Carleenp)

Member at Large: Marcia Claesson (Ceiligirls)

In accordance with the interim Bylaws, further nominations may be made by emailing the interim President-Elect within ten (10) days. People nominated from the membership must have been a member of the Nebraskache yahoo group for at least 4 months or have attended a past Nebraskache event. The person nominated and the person doing the nominating must register as voting members by sending the interim President-Elect their full names, addresses, and email addresses.

 

Note that only voting members may vote. To be a voting member, you must be 18, a resident of Nebraska, and must register with the interim President-Elect by sending that person your full name, address, and a valid email account. If you are planning to vote at the meeting, you may register then. Active members who do not wish to vote, are not required to register as a voting member (see the Bylaws).

 

There is no absentee voting, but people who live greater than 60 miles from the site of the election (Saint Michael Lutheran Church) may vote by proxy. Both the proxy and the person voting must be voting members and must notify the interim President-Elect within 5 days before the election of the proxy. The proxy must attend the meeting and vote in person. If you live greater than 60 miles away and cannot attend the meeting, it is suggested that you contact Lincoln or Omaha members who are likely to attend the meeting to see if someone will proxy vote for you.

The other member at large nominated for election is Team Starbrand from Western Nebraska. Jim forgot to fill that blank in.

 

Also, I believe the voting by proxy is supposed to be 100 miles. Basically people who are not in the Lincoln/Omaha area.

I am very glad to see a well-organized geocaching group in Nebraska. My wife and I are new to the sport. We live in Fremont. I don't know if we'll be attending the meeting, but count us in for support. Where do we sign up?

The Nebraskache Yahoo Group is the official listserve. We have been talking about doing the spring CITO at Memphis lake, so that will be in your area!

Thanks to everyone who came to the meeting either in person or via computer chat. Also thanks to LRLC for her typing skills! Thanks to the hard work of The WB's there is an event planned in March that will be held in conjuction with the Omaha public libraries. Keep an eye out for that. Bons is also at work improving on some logo ideas.
