+CacheCreatures
Hi there. I'm sure this is a very old question, but for some reason the searches I did on the form didn't show any results. So, what do you use as an off road pointer on your PDA? I plan to buy an Axim, run it with a CF GPS card and Mapopolis. The FAQ on Mapopolis don't directly address this. What I'm basically looking for is that trusty bearing and heading pointer, distance from reading and any other helpful info on one screen. Thanks for the help! Quote Link to comment
+Maeglin
No specific suggestions for apps, since I don't use a Pocket PC, but one thing you could do to look for some would be to go to Handango.com, go to their Pocket PC section, and search for "gps" in the software listings. There's a ton of listings for region-specific maps there, but among those are a few apps that do what you're wanting. Quote Link to comment

What I'm basically looking for is that trusty bearing and heading pointer, distance from reading and any other helpful info on one screen. Thanks for the help! I use mapopolis. 1. Ise GPXtoMaplet to load waypoints into PDA 2. Do a Naviagate From (usually GPS Position) to Waypoint 3. If you are far away, it will give you turn by turn (if you bought the good maps) directions to near your cache. 4. When you are near, go to Navigate, Delete Route. 5. Go to GPS screen, you will see distance and bearing to the Waypoint (it remembers the last waypoint after you deleted the route). Hope this helps. Also get GPXView, is great way to carry the cache info on the PDA. To add waypoints (say after you figure ot a clue) use: Find, Lattitude & Longatude. Enter the coordinates Than hit 'Add Location' button (not the OK button) and enter some descriptive info. Once the new waypoint is entered, you an do #2-5 again. Quote Link to comment
