I need help publishing pictures on cache page

Probably a simple answer to this...I hope so anyway.

When I post pictures to my caches, I scan a 4 x 6 photo on scanner and save it as a .jpg file of less than 100KB.

When published with cache, it appears as a small picture on a white page.

Can I make it full screen (thus easier to see), and if so, HOW?

Before we had this feature I think I sent a couple to Jeremy and he posted them to site for me. They came out larger, easier to see.

Help !

Ron,

Here is a quick answer to your question.

The way to select how large your picture will display is to use WIDTH and HEIGHT information in your IMG tag. For example, the following would display your picture with 400 pixels in width and 600 pixels in height.

<IMG src=picture1.jpg width=400 height=600>

One thing to consider is the size of all the graphics on a page and how long they take to load. You might want to put a smaller version of the picture, a thumbnail view, on your main page. These are ~15K small versions of the pictures that link to the full size version on a separate page.

Hope this helps.

Silver...

Thanks. This sounds right for pics I would include on MY OWN web page (which I am currently working on using FrontPage 2000), but I am speaking of how I should format pics I upload to the geocaching site. Maybe I am not refining them enough when I scan on my HP. I do tinker with the type of output and size, but I guess I need to explore more.

Perhaps some additional posts from you or other will get me on the right track.

Thanks again. I am especially interested in the thumbnails Idea as I think that works nicely especially when one puts on a group of photos for someone else to choose from.

There are some programs that will shrink down the size but leave the picture large (like Debabelizer and Adobe Photoshop), but keeping the size down benefits folks with smaller monitors. My resolution is huge but most folks are at 600x800, so a 600 pixel wide image is a decent size to have the image at.
