Guest CR
What do you or would you use for the latitude and logitude for a cache that a latitude and logitude are not appropriate for. Quote Link to comment
Guest brokenwing
Can you elaborate on "not appropriate"? If it's anywhere on the earth, lat and lon will mark the spot. ------------------ Brokenwing http://www.cordianet.com/geocaching Quote Link to comment
Guest ALacy
I guess he is talking about "puzzle" caches where you have to calculate/figure out what the real coordinates are. We have a few around here. I think all of them have posted coordinates that are close (within a few miles) of the real ones. That way the caches shows up on maps and nearest caches pages, but then you have to determine the real coordinates before you can do the actual hunt. Quote Link to comment
Guest Mr. Snazz
A lot of offset caches that I've seen use the coordinates of a 'starting position', not of the actual cache. That way you're forced to go through the process to find the cache, and can't just skip to the end. Quote Link to comment
Guest brokenwing
Ah, OK, if this is what was intended, the concept of a starting position works well, or you can always use the parking coordinates and go from there. ------------------ Brokenwing http://www.cordianet.com/geocaching Quote Link to comment
Guest ALacy
ust close. Once you read it you will see why. Quote Link to comment

There are also a few such caches that are at zero degrees latitude, zero degrees longitude. Quote Link to comment
Guest DisQuoi
I have such a cache ... (here) that I used. I just state clearly that these are in the vicinity of the cache. If you use 0,0 for lat/long, peple will not find it when searching for caches near them. Quote Link to comment
Guest fractal
Whatever you do, don't use the center of an airport runway (check the January 30th log) for the lat/lon of a puzzle cache. Apparently the FAA doesn't like it! -fractal [This message has been edited by fractal (edited 01 March 2002).] Quote Link to comment
