rgerman95 Posted March 19, 2002 Posted March 19, 2002 Jeremy: So far the changes look very good. Have a couple items: 1) I am having trouble getting my signature to appear on my replies, but I do have one in my profile. Am I doing something wrong? 2) When I try to reply to a post, it usually kicks me back out. This needs to be addressed. 3) Why no carry-over on the number of total posts from the old forum to the new one? Thanks for your help. I love this forum and think you do a great job. Rich Quote
+pdxmarathonman Posted March 19, 2002 Posted March 19, 2002 I've had trouble with the reply on occasion. It kicks me out to the Forums page. But if I re-visit the thread, the reply works fine. Kinda strange, should be fixed. But not a show-stopper Quote
+RangerRick Posted March 19, 2002 Posted March 19, 2002 Ditto here, when I try to post, makes a loop and then on the second attempt I will get in. Quote
+misguided one Posted March 19, 2002 Posted March 19, 2002 Samething happens when I try to vote on any of the polls. Matter of fact it just happened when I started to reply to this thread. Lost? I'm not lost. At least I don't think I'm lost, well............OK, maybe just a little. Quote
+Jeremy Posted March 19, 2002 Posted March 19, 2002 1. Once you create your signature, logout then log back in to the forums (by using the logout link at the top). That allows OpenTopic to update your info. 2. Before viewing the post, make sure you are logged in (should show your username in the upper left hand corner of the forum page). If you try to reply and you aren't logged in, it kicks you over to the geocaching.com site to login. Then it brings you back here, where you will need to click the login link again. Unfortunately we do this because we don't want to "marry" the two sites together too much. The reason why is that if the forums go down, the geocaching.com site would cease to function. 3. Merging the old posts and the new accounts were two complicated. Folks in the old forums sometimes had a different username than the new ones. It created a level playing field but retained the archive of old posts, so it was better than starting from total scratch. Jeremy Jeremy Irish Groundspeak Lackey and Geopuppet Quote
+Jeremy Posted March 19, 2002 Posted March 19, 2002 I added a checkbox that allows you to log into the forums as well when you login to geocaching.com - If you have any problems in the future, just uncheck it if you want to use the features of geocaching.com and the forums are down. I'll try and uncheck it if I know the forums are down for scheduled maintainence. Jeremy Jeremy Irish Groundspeak Lackey and Geopuppet Quote
