Guest y2kmagazine
I bought a Magellan 315 that had a very old verion of the firmware (1.05 or so?). I bought it new recently, it must have been sitting on the shelf of the sports authority for a while. While I have the cable to bring it up to the latest revision software wise, I wonder - is it better to have an older hardware unit that is upgraded on the software side or a newer unit hardware wise? You have the adage - they don't make them like they used to, but you have to expect that in the year + since this unit was manufactured, they tweaked or modified the hardware. Maybe to make it more sensitive, maybe to make it cheaper at the expense of sensitivity. This unit works OK, but if I could get a little better, I'd like that too! But I don't want to get another, newer unit of the same model that has less sensitivity or accuracy. Any guidance? Quote Link to comment
Guest navdog
All ot the 315 models are the same. The firmware update will give you lots of new features and fix any bugs from the older versions. Quote Link to comment
