converting latitude and longitude

Brushing up on latitude longitude since I just bought my Garmin Rino 120. When I see a latitude of N 35 07.126 is the "07.126" minutes and seconds or just minutes? I usually see positions in either decimal (example 35.439912) or degrees minutes and seconds (example 35:26:23.683N). So when I see N35 07.126 I"m looking at 35 degress and then minutes and seconds in decimal form? There are several good websites to convert degrees minutes and seconds to decimal degrees but you only use the two forms I showed above in my examples. Can't wait to find my first cache. I"m going tonight maybe.

N 35 07.126 is Degrees Decimal Minutes (the minutes are in decimal, seconds are not shown)

 

Multiply the .126 by 60 to get seconds.

N35 07.126 --> 35:07:07.56N

 

Similary, divide the minutes by 60 to get Decimal Degrees:

N35 07.126 --> N35.1188

Although your GPSr can probably translate lon/lat formats, here's a neat website that can perform those functions 'online' (it also gives you an idea of what the actual 'numbers' mean).

If I see 35:26:23.683N is that 35 degrees, 26 minutes and 23.683 seconds?
