ricnic
I'm running OSX and have VPC 6.0 installed. However, I got this from a friend and it didnt come with an operating system. I do have a windoze 98 disk from an earlier version of VPC I have. Can I load 98 into VPC 6 and be able to upload/download to my GPSr? Does windoze 98 via VPC have USB capabilities? I'm using an IOGear usb/serial adapter. Is there anyone running this setup, or has anyone run it in the past? Quote Link to comment
gummibear
I use VPC5 with Windows 98 on my Mac, and have successfully used it to control a handheld police scanner plugged into a serial to USB adaptor, which in turn was plugged into my Mac. So, I can't imagine you would have any problem connecting your GPS in a similar way. You will need to install the driver for your USB-serial adaptor on your Win98 virtual machine though -- if you don't have a driver disk, you should be able to download them from the web page of the adaptor's manufacturer. +jollybgood
Yes you'll be able to use 98 with VPC and use your iogear adapter and GPS unit. That's the set up I had until I upgraded to Windows 2000. Windows 2000 runs faster via VPC than 98 for some reason but I never had any problems with it. Jolly R.
