+Yellowcode3
Hello, I use a Garmin Etrex (the little yellow one). I want to download the tracks I create with the GPSR to my PC and have these put into some sort of image that will simply show the track. This can be displayed without any sort of base map. I would also like to display the waypoints I have created along this track on the same image. I have had a look at G7ToWin and find it will download the track points, as lat/long data, but will not then convert these to a visual image of the same data. It appears the software might do it with other GPSRs; this feature may not work because of the GPRS I am using. Suggestions on how I can create an image of my tracks on my PC as taken from the tracks data? Thanks for any suggestions Quote Link to comment
+park2
2 ideas (probably a dozen similar ways): You could use a program like Ozi or Fugawi to download them right over top of a loaded base map. You could download them with G7, save as a text/comma delimited file (if G7 doesn't do this, run it through an intermediate program like GeoBuddy) and import the text file into MS Streets & Trips or similar programs. If you don't have any of these programs but do have a spreadsheet, export the data as UTM coordinates and plot he data as an x/y graph onto a blank background chart. If you get wizzy, you might even be able to use a copy of a free map/topo as the background to the chart. Quote Link to comment

+mrcpu
GPS trackmaker is THE best freeware program that does what Ozi and Fugawi do. Rob Mobile Cache Command Quote Link to comment
m2fun
The mapsource application does well to display the tracks with extensive detail on each point contained in the track (lon/lat, altitude, bearing, time, date, etc.). With the latest update there is more definition on the maps (metroguide, topo, cityselect). Quote Link to comment
