GPSMAP 76s lockups

Recommended Posts

Hi, all,

I'm experiencing occasional lockups with my GPSMAP 76s. The compass locks in position and none of the buttons has any effect. The lockup can only be cleared by removing the batteries.

Is anyone else here seeing this?

Ever since downloading software v3.20 my unit has experianced 4 lockups. It never locked up before this version. I hold in the power button for about 10 seconds and all is well again.

Yes, I've had it happen a few times. Once before the new firmware and twice after. I also just take the batteries out and pt them back in again. Then all is fine.

I've had problems of it locking up, but power restart would fix it. Haven't seen that happen since, well probably version 2 software.

Shutdowns usually only happen with low battery -- remember to turn off the compass! It eats batteries like Cheerios.

Just got the unit back from Garmin. They say it passes their tests and that they've loaded the most recent software (which doesn't have any lockup fixes.)

I'm going to see whether it locks up in the field again. Will let everyone here know if so.
