Guest Mitch
Received a copy of MapSend Topo and it did not work (unable to get the computer to recognize that I had a CD in) with Windows 2000. Called tech support a Magellan and they said to send it back for a replacement and that they had been having revision problems. I tried installation on Windows ME and it worked fine. Two quick questions 1) Since the Merdian Gold comes with a PC data cable, can you interface the unit with a PC without MapSend software? 2) Do you need to upload NorthAmerica MapUP. I assume the Meridian is loaded with the most current basemap but wan't sure if I still nedd to run this to maintain compatability with the rest of the MapSend uploads. I ask this since the instructions only address the Map330 and not the Meridian Gold, plus the fact I'm new to gps and have not done this before. Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom and any other tips Mitch Quote Link to comment
Guest ClayJar
P>Now, on the other hand, you can put MapSend maps onto an SD card MUCH faster (<1 minute vs. several hours) without using the cable (see instructions in my Meridian Report, Pics, and Tricks topic). Oh, and yes, the update program/basemap is for the MAP 330 *ONLY* Quote Link to comment
Guest Mitch
Thanks ClayJar, I knew I could count on another Chem Eng for input. I did purchase a SD Card USB reader based on your advise and will try it out tonight. Where did you get your ChemEng degree from? Got mine at Univ of Maine more years ago than I care to remember. Thanks again - Mitch Quote Link to comment
