GHScouts
I see the Venture is waterproof, but the Legend specs don't mention anything about it being even water resistant. However, offroute.com says both the Venture and Legend have a waterproofness standard of IPX7, whatever that means. The Legend is $219 at Amazon.com with $40 rebate, so $179 seems like a good deal. Any other info? Do I need the cig lighter adapter or the pc interface cable with cig lighter adapter that amazon also sells (both for around $28)? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
jfitzpat
The Legend specs at the Garmin site do list the unit as waterproof. See: http://www.garmin.com/products/etrexLegend/spec.html -jjf Quote Link to comment
peter
The Legend and all eTrex models are rated as IPX7, which means they should survive submersion in water at a depth of one meter for 30 minutes without damage. However, Garmin does not guarantee that the battery compartment is waterproof, so care should still be taken to dry it out and to protect the battery contacts from salt water. Quote Link to comment
