chuska
Hello Everyone, I just purchased the Sportrac Pro and love it. I am dissapointed in the mapsend topo though. I guess I am spoiled with Terrain Navigator. My main problem is this. I use the sportrac pro with a fairly new laptop that doesn't have the right connections to use the pc cable. What is the workaround? Is there a com port to usb converter or something or does someone make a aftermarket part that works. Here is the cable they sent with me. http://gpsonsale.com/pages/store/skudetail.nhtml?profile=sportrakaccessories&uid=10112&returnURL=http%3A//gpsonsale.com/sportrakaccessories As far as ports all I have are usbs, firewire and a printer port as well as some sort of 9 pin female port exactly like the business end of the pc cable. Any Ideas? TIA Tim Quote Link to comment
stevesim
Here is one example that works with Magellan units. http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10273693&loc=101&queryType=comp Steve Simpkin Quote Link to comment
+raouljan
I have the earlier version - the UC-232A - and it works like a charm. Be advised that it likes to connect to COM6 (at least on my laptop) and that can be a problem for some of the s/w out there. And special, special, special thanks to the folks at Compaq that decided that an RS-232 port was not necessary on a laptop Quote Link to comment
