Sportrac Pro Connections Question

Hello Everyone,

I just purchased the Sportrac Pro and love it. I am dissapointed in the mapsend topo though. I guess I am spoiled with Terrain Navigator.

My main problem is this. I use the sportrac pro with a fairly new laptop that doesn't have the right connections to use the pc cable. What is the workaround? Is there a com port to usb converter or something or does someone make a aftermarket part that works. Here is the cable they sent with me.

As far as ports all I have are usbs, firewire and a printer port as well as some sort of 9 pin female port exactly like the business end of the pc cable. Any Ideas?

TIA

Tim

I have the earlier version - the UC-232A - and it works like a charm.

Be advised that it likes to connect to COM6 (at least on my laptop) and that can be a problem for some of the s/w out there.

And special, special, special thanks to the folks at Compaq that decided that an RS-232 port was not necessary on a laptop
