Guest Jumpmaster
What? No Trimble units here????? Ack... Well, I have two receivers...one is a military Trimble PSN-10 (AKA: "Trimpack" as the civilian version)...not SA capable -- this was part of the contract in the late 80's that ended up being used in Desert Storm. Other unit is a Magellan Trailblazer XL. Neither set has mapping, but it hasn't been an issue yet. The Trimble is nice because you have comparatively long waypoint names and it does auto-averaging. Both sets are quite rugged...the Trimble is waterproof (as opposed to "weather resistant" )... JM-99 Link to comment

Guest urbo
i use a garmin 3 which i love and a magellan 3000 which i hate. had i not paid for the magellan i would have created an artificial reef with it by now. the magellan is "deaf" and only works well on a clear day with a clear shot of the sky. the garmin 3 picks up the birds sitting on my dining room table indoors.. go figure.. ------------------ "urbo" robert ke4mcl Link to comment
Guest found
What is a Magellan Tracker? and how does it rate? I have two, trying to learn how to use it. I was lucky enough to buy two of them, and I haven't seen anymore on the market, just the 315's. I bought the second one becuz I already had the cable and software for it. Couldn't see spending more for yet another pc cable. Ideally, one for my husband and one for me. Link to comment

Guest thfireman
I have the Garmin Legend. I love the features and I rarely loose a signal. The mapping feature is great if you travel and it also helps me find a closer place to park when searching for a cache. Yea I know I should enjoy the great outdoors and walk but sometimes I need to make it quick and it helps in those situations. Great little unit!! ------------------ Thanks, ThFireman Link to comment
Guest emrdux
E-Trex Venture. Its simple, has plenty of memory and does everything I need for now. I got it to take hunting on the BLM land in Wyoming, but I started geocaching with my kids (6 & 8yo) today. They had a blast and I got to spend time with them in the great outdoors. WIN-WIN! Guest mtbiker
I'm using a eTrex Legend with a combination of Garmin MapSource and DeLorme Topo 2.0 mapping software. This does the job for Mt Biking, Road Biking, Hiking, drive and of course Geocaching. Link to comment

Guest SafireLady
I use a Lowrance GlobalMap 100. If it is not good, I do not know any different. It always gets me to the caches, which never ceases to amaze me because I have not read more than 7 pages of the 55 page instruction manual. One of these days, I will figure out how to use it the easy way and learn what all this stuff that I got to go with it is used for! It never fails me in tree cover, clouds or anything!
