Guest rockg
I found my 1st cache last week and now I am hooked. I got my Etrex Vista today. I was reading how to use it and it mentions using Garmin Mapsource CD. My question is... I have Street Atlas Road Warrior CD, Street Atlas USA, Rand McNally Route Planner, Street & Trips 2001, Streetfinder and Map and GO. Will any of these work with my Vista or do I need to get the Mapsource Cd? Like I said, I am new to this... still reading... but would love to download some maps/streets to the unit if I can, without buying the Garmin CD.. for now ! Thanks in advance !! Guest peter
Using the Street Atlas programs you can download waypoints and routes to your Vista. Both these programs and some of your others will let you connect the Vista to a laptop and give a moving map display on the laptop - nice for driving but not too useful for hiking. However, nothing but the various flavors of MapSource maps from Garmin (Roads & Rec., MetroGuide, Topo, Waterways & Lights, Fishing, etc.) will let you download maps that display right on your Vista screen.
