+Bloencustoms
It seems like a lot of people agree that Garmin mapping software is expensive. What if they charged more for their map ready units, and made the software available free online? It seems like an incentive to buy those units. They could advertise the free software all over the packaging. Would you spend a little more for a unit that had this capability, or save money up front, and buy individual maps? I know I would rather buy a unit that had ALL the map data available online. I guess the real question is, can they sell enough units at a good enough price to offset the free software? +apersson850
From a marketing point of view, it's always easier to sell a unit at a good price, and then, when the customer has decided that he "has to" have some accessories, sell these at the highest possible price.
