Testament to Meridians waterproofness

Recommended Posts

Saturday I was fishing out of an aluminum boat and laid my Meridian green on the seat beside me. I leaned over to loose a trout and pressed the seat down. After straightening up I heard a loud POP and thought someone had thrown something at us. The guy in the front was pointing and sputtering at something in the water and I looked around and there was my Meridian floating about 3 feet from the boat. It was floating with the antenna sticking out of the water about an inch, and I could see that the screen still showed a map. I rowed over and retrieved it, shook the water off it but didnt open it till the next day after I was sure it was dried. Its been 3 days now and no signs of any adverse affect. I am SO glad I chose a waterproof unit or I'd be out a unit right now. It doesnt float real high in the water but it does float.

When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.

There is a pretty good air pocket where the antenna is at the top, and the heavy batteries are at the bottom, so I would expect it to float vertically. icon_smile.gif

I haven't dunked it in water, but I did 7 caches in torrential rain over the weekend and it worked like a champ in the rain.

Your GPS is not the only thing that floats that way... icon_biggrin.gif
