best side to be on to get a gps lock

on a airplane, boat, train, bus or even a car - assuming you can only have the gps at a window at the side of the airplane, boat, train, bus or even a car - what side is best.

 

I would think the south facing side (or the North for the southern hemisphere) since it looks like some of the sat's orbit the equator so there will more sat's in general in the southern sky then the northern (again assuming northern hemi.).

 

That is just a guess and I didn't have time to fully think this out - anyone know?

With a WAAS receiver, you could give it the best view of the geostationary sats over the equator, since they stay there. With a non-WAAS receiver, or really any receiver, just take a look at the sat status screen and pick the window that currently appears to have the best collection.

ClayJar that's if you can actually use the gps when you select the seat which is not always the case.
