the tapir
Hello cachers! Just a quick question regarding the "difficulty/terrain" ratings. Obviously I understand what "terrain" signifies, but to me "difficulty" is a little ambiguous. Soooo ... is "difficulty" usually taken to mean "How much effort does it take to get *near* the cache location, above and beyond any terrain issues" or is it more likely to mean "How hard it is to find the cache once you're within, say, 100 ft." ? I'm planning to set my first cache up next week, and I want to make sure I describe it properly! Thanks. the tapir 2/0 PS ... found my second one today (Cold War no More) ... I'm still muddy! the tapir Quote Link to comment

LazyLeopard
quote:"How hard it is to find the cache once you're within, say, 100 ft."That one's closer to the mark. ClayJar's rating only has one multiple-choice question for rating difficulty, so it's of limited help... Check these discussions: Difficulty Ratings from the General forum (and the old archived portion). Difficulty Ratings from the old (archived) Getting Started forum. Purrs...
