+Rocky Balboa
A few months a go I passed my first year mark as a cacher and started to look back at what I had been doing on the same day last year. It seems that some of my fondest ever memories of this game came from some of the first caches I did but I am a little confused why. No offence to a cache like Jersey Farm but that is one that I loved and I cant for the life of me figure out why? Its just a cache in a park? there are many others like this that I remember being brilliant fun and I wonder the same thing about them? does anyone else have the same feelings about their first few & if so can they explain this oddity!?! maybe the thrill of lunchboxes is waring off but I hope not! Its just a hunt for a lunch box, why be so serious!?! Dan Wilson - www.Buckscaching.co.uk - Stash Notes, forums & Much more... Quote Link to comment
+Richard & Beth
Interesting point, we reached our second anniversary last week. I have to agree that the early caches seem to be more memorable, for example I can still pretty clearly remember View from Coombe Hill, and Pit Near Penn, the first two we did. Most likely I think it is that after you get more experienced as a cacher there probably isn't the same thrill at finding the cache that there was when you started. Also one ammo box or tupperware box hidden under a log tends to be much the same as any other unless there is some particular twist that makes it stand out. Richard Richard Quote Link to comment
adrianjohn
I too felt nostalgic yesterday, remembering my first cache found as I plunged my hands into yet another patch of nettles. The thrill of the find may have become a little faded but the sting of the nettles is as potent as ever. Have boots and GPSr, will cache for fun! Quote Link to comment
+Mustard Devil
I will always remember my first find."Bridges To Nowhere" is archived now. I didn't know the difference between waypoints and cords, finally figured out how to load the cords and ended up in a section of Memphis not far from my apartment. After 422 finds and 23 caches placed, I stiil get the same thrill as I did on that first hunt! Quote Link to comment
