HERE IS WHY :- The route to the cache requires visitors to leave the path and wade through heather. The New Forest is home to a number of species of ground-nesting birds, some of them rare or endangered, that use this moorland habitat. They are starting to lay eggs now and the season will continue until the end of July. Even if you watch where you walk you might disturb the parents and inadvertently cause them to abandon a nest, so it is best to archive this one until the chicks are fledged. I will un-archive at the beginning of August. I'm giving a few days notice in case anyone is visiting this weekend. I could have given more thought to where I placed the cache, so it may reappear somewhere else, where we won't have the same issue again next year. Quote Link to comment
