1st Challenge Cache?

Recommended Posts

That could be hard to nail down unless you define "Challenge Cache". There were ALRs long before 'challenge caches' were a thing. Could be quite a task to locate the first cache that was published that required a finder to do something before signing the log... but interested in finding out if that's solved :P

Yeah, distinguishing between early challenge caches and old ALR caches is going to be rather subjective. For example, one of the early ALR caches I logged required collecting certain personal signature tokens left by the CO in various caches he found. But that was before either of the terms "challenge cache" or "ALR" was being used.

There's a lot of gray between things that are clearly challenge caches (because they meet current challenge cache guidelines) and things that are clearly ALRs (because the requirement has nothing to do with geocaching, like posting your log in limerick form).
