The Coolest Cache in New Mexico

Didn't see much in the way of New Mexico so I thought I'd share my experience of finding New Mexico's coolest Cache! OK, maybe its not the coolest one but it was pretty awesome. Last Saturday we visited the TWA Canyon Cache in the Sandia Mountains (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=8291) We will always remember visiting this cache because as we were starting our hike early in the morning we heard a loud boom that turned out to be the space shuttle. It was a sobering day to see the TWA Crash site and then hear about the Space Shuttle. The area is beautiful. Take a look at the pictures we took during our visit at http://jared.larsenfamily.com/pictures/geocaching/twacrash/ It's a tough hike but well worth it! If you are in the area I highly recomend you check this one out-- If you are up for the 8.5 mile round trip hike. Up 2500 feet then back down.

I haven't been to this cache (and I don't particularly support placing caches in airplane crash sites) but I've located the wreck multiple times without GPS, and extensively explored the area. Domingo Baca has no outlet to the crest- you gotta start from Elena Gallegos. Quite a nice hike, really.

Enjoy your journey. Tom
