Virtual Caches are now adoptable

Cache owners can now adopt or transfer their Virtual Cache to another player’s account. Virtual Caches remain a legacy cache type, but with limited releases, such as the 2017 and 2019 Virtual Rewards. Geocaching HQ made this change because we want to increase the flexibility for current Virtual Cache owners, including those that have unpublished listings from the 2019 Virtual Rewards 2.0 release. 
 
To transfer a Virtual Cache, the original cache owner must start the adoption process. As with other cache types, archived Virtual Caches cannot be transferred to a new owner. 
 
Along with this change, Geocaching HQ is extending the submission deadline for unpublished Virtual Reward 2.0 caches to December 31, 2021. We hope this gives cache owners time to either finish their cache listing, or adopt the listing to another geocacher.
